Recruiting Rewind: A Look at the High School Class of 2010

by Earl Smith

It's time for my personal favorite feature of the offseason, D1CW's Recruiting Rewind.  As has been the case the past six seasons, we will take a look at a class of wrestlers five years after the collegiate careers began. The Class of 2010 was not as spectacular as recent classes, however there a solid number of competitors that enjoyed excellent collegiate careers.  The top point producer Logan Stieber becomes the first wrestler in the history of the Recruiting Rewind to have a "perfect score". He did so by winning four Big Ten and NCAA titles. For the second consecutive season, and only the second time in the history of the Recruiting Rewind has the top recruit went on to have the top point score at the end of his career (David Taylor in 2009, Logan Stieber 2010).

The Class of 2010 was unique in the fact that, out of the four NCAA Champions that came out of that year, only Logan Stieber was considered at top 50 recruit, at the time.  Drake Houdashelt was #53, Kyven Gadson was #65 and Jesse Delgado was #75.

Last year Ed Ruth and David Taylor established a new high point total with 85. Logan Stieber surpassed this with 88 and under the current format it could not be topped.

Also an update from the Class of 2008.  With his 2015 NCAA Title and Runner-Up finish at the Big Ten Championship Matt Brown now has a total of 54 points which would put him  ahead of Jason Welch for 6th place overall in the Class of 2008.

First lets take a look at the top 50 of D1CW's top 100 recruits from the Class of 2010.
